KEPSA CEO, Ms Carole Kariuki on 19th April 2023 joined the Swiss Delegation to Kenya in the luncheon on the financial ecosystem in Kenya at Swiss Residence in Nairobi.
The meeting’s objective was to discuss and reflect on the potential ways to build a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) investment bridge between Africa and Europe including strengthening financial ties between Nairobi and Geneva.
This marked an important and timely conversation in the current Kenyan context, given the transition of countries such as Kenya as an emerging middle-income country, and the fact that such countries are facing shifting financial flows in this transition from SDG funding to financing as articulated by the UN Secretary-General.
Led by the Ambassador of Switzerland to Kenya, Mr Valentin Zellweger, President of the Swiss Sustainable Finance and Building Bridges Foundation in Geneva, Mr Patrick Odier, Ms Sandrine Salerno and Mr Christian Frutiger, the Swiss delegation is visiting selected innovations in Kenya as part of showcasing sustainable development investments and projects as they inspire further investments and collaborations, such as responsible waste management practices.
The Swiss delegation’s visit will further underscore the significance of cross-border collaborations and public-private partnerships in driving sustainable development investments in Kenya. This will continue to demonstrate the power of such partnerships in fostering social, economic and environmental change.
Also, at the meeting were, the UN Resident Coordinator, Dr Stephen Jackson and representatives of the civil society and investing community.
