On 10th March 2025, KEPSA and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF) hosted a networking event in Nairobi, climaxing in a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signing with ENCAF SAS, a subsidiary of MEDEF International, focused on developing sustainable frameworks for an innovative approach to TVET. This partnership will address one of the most critical challenges facing businesses today: skills development and workforce competitiveness. Some immediate focus areas include pilot training programs, business linkages, capacity building for training institutions, and certification framework.
Speaking during the event, KEPSA CEO Ms Carole Kariuki noted that KEPSA and MEDEF have fostered a robust partnership aimed at enhancing trade and investment opportunities between Kenya and France. “We are witnessing deeper collaboration and investments between Kenyan and French businesses across key sectors. These partnerships have enabled businesses to leverage each other's strengths, driving innovation and growth,” she remarked.
The MOU aims to define the conditions for establishing a partnership between KEPSA and ENCAF to implement a range of projects based largely on digital technology. This will be used to strengthen the capacity of TVET institutions in Kenya to develop appropriate and effective educational tools, based on an opportunity-driven approach to vocational training.
“We are proud that this MOU is focused on human capital, and will among others implement joint action programmes dedicated to the development of vocational training, and promote employability of Kenyan youths in Kenya and globally,” said Philippe LABONNE, President of the Africa Council at MEDEF International.
The partnership is set to lay the foundation for long-term success that will ensure tangible benefits for businesses and individuals. In 2021, KEPSA renewed a 10-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MEDEF, initially signed in 2012. This agreement underscores the commitment to continue hosting high-level business forums in Kenya and France, further solidifying the partnership between Kenyan and French businesses.
