The International Chamber of Commerce – Kenya Chapter (ICC Kenya) led by the Environment and Energy Commission Chair Mr Julius Opio on the 14th of November, 2023, paid a visit and exclusive factory tour to one of BURN Manufacturing factories located at the Ruiru Business Park. BURN launched new clean cooking solutions - ECOA Electric Induction Cooker with compatible cookware, ECOA wood and ECOA char (Jiko koa).
As part of its broader objective to accelerate sustainability, ICC is committed to helping businesses take action to enhance environmental sustainability and the collective responsibility to conserve natural resources and project global ecosystems to support health and wellbeing, both now and in the future.
ICC recognises the escalating environmental crisis and is committed to mobilising businesses to accelerate and scale action to ensure a healthy planet for the prosperity of all.
The new ECOA Electric Induction Cookware, will be an added value to the range of products accessible to low-income households, as the benefits include a 'pay-as-you-cook' option in which customers make a modest upfront deposit, followed by weekly payments to completion in less than a year.
The cooker also has real-time tracking of stove usage, which ensures the generation of high-integrity carbon credits, verified under Gold Standard's novel metered methodology.
This product is set to revolutionize cooking throughout Africa, presenting families with a more cost-effective and sustainable cooking solution.
BURN is the world’s leading clean cookstove manufacturer, distributor, and carbon-offset project developer, headquartered in Kenya and operating across ten countries in Africa. Since launching operations in 2013, BURN has distributed over 4 million stoves, impacting over 22M lives, saving over 9M tons of wood and reducing carbon emissions by over 17 million tons in sub-Saharan Africa. In Kenya, BURN has distributed over 1 million (M) stoves impacting 3M lives, saving 4M tons of wood and avoiding 7M tons of CO2. This significant impact is made possible by their two state-of-the-art factories in Kenya, which have a combined capacity to manufacture over 400,000 clean cooking stoves monthly.
