My name is Lydia Vamba, and my passion for cooking inspired me to start Spaly Kitchenware in January 2022 in Mukuyu, Murang’a, where I grew up and attended school. I began small by serving friends, family, and the local community with top-quality kitchenware that includes cookers, fridges, microwaves, sufurias, fryers, and more—always ensuring that every product supports safe and enjoyable cooking.

I faced several ups and downs. In December 2022, I temporarily closed my physical store, but I maintained an online presence until June and then resumed operations in a dual mode—both physically and online. These operational challenges, along with the financial hurdles I encountered, motivated me to apply for the Jiinue Growth Program. Through the training, I learned critical strategies for stabilizing my business finances and planning for sustainable growth, including effective record keeping and separating personal from business expenses.

To further strengthen my business, I took significant steps to have my business available on social media. I created a WhatsApp group that now includes over 200 members, where I share updates on available utensils and appliances with my clients. Additionally, I actively engage with customers through TikTok and Instagram, broadening my reach and enhancing my brand visibility. I am also supported by a dedicated friend who helps sell our products when I am engaged in other commitments.

With the insights and financial strategies gained from the Jiinue Growth Program, I am more confident than ever in my ability to stabilize and grow Spaly Kitchenware. I look forward to building a resilient business that continues to serve people with quality kitchenware, bridging traditional retail with modern digital outreach.
