The 2nd Conference of the International Network on African Energy Transition in Nairobi today, 9th April 2025, has highlighted critical solutions centred on private sector investment, innovation and inclusivity. Discussions focused on the urgent need for private sector investment in the energy space, exploring how businesses can contribute to the energy transition sustainably.
With a focus on collaboration, innovation and multi-stakeholder engagement, the conference sought to address some of the most pressing energy challenges facing the continent today. Dr. Jackson Kinyanjui Koimbori, Head of KEPSA Consult, represented KEPSA on behalf of the private sector. The conference was organized by the Luiss School of Government and Eni, showcasing their commitment to fostering global dialogue and solutions for Africa's energy needs.
Keynote speakers from across the globe shared insights on the importance of aligning energy transitions with Africa’s unique needs and priorities. Participants emphasized the need for policies that encourage both innovation and investment in renewable energy, as well as the need for greater financial and technological support. Sessions addressed how Africa’s energy needs can be met through sustainable practices while ensuring that economic growth and job creation remain at the forefront. These discussions underscored the importance of collaboration between the private sector, governments, and international organizations to achieve a just and inclusive energy transition.
One of the primary highlights of the conference was the emphasis on the role of the private sector in driving Africa’s energy transformation.
