The Kilimani Police Station Redevelopment Project is a Partnership between KEPSA Foundation, National Police Service, The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Nairobi City County Government and Kilimani Project Foundation. As the first Public Private Partnership of its kind in the history of the Police force, the project is envisions the transformation of the Kilimani Police Station to a model police station with modern facilities that will serve as the main police station and be a flagship project that will be replicated to other counties
The project is an initiative of the Kilimani Business Community and the residents with theme “Investing in Community Security and Welfare” and is consistent with the Nyumba Kumi motto, to mobilize the consciousness of all people of goodwill to address the inadequacies of Kilimani Police Station facilities in order to facilitate the provision of better quality services. The Station serves as the Divisional headquarter for several neighborhoods including Kilimani, Upper Hill and Kileleshwa. These areas boast of major corporate headquarters, embassies and educational institutions.
The project is to be implemented in two phases:
The project is being executed under a Project Steering committee that brings together all the five partners as well as other key community members such as the Faith Based community, the residents and the State Department of public works.
Endorsed by the Inspector General of Police, the project is in sync with police efforts to build a people centered service the country can be proud of and through which citizens can enjoy their constitutional right. Kilimani Police Station is the pilot project but similar initiatives have been initiated at the Karen Police Station and Muthaiga Police Station with plans to go to other areas such as Runda, Kilifi and the Central Business District.
