The KEPSA Security Sector Board held its monthly meeting on 7th August, 2018. The meeting was chaired by the Chair of the sector board, Mr. Silvanus Sewe.
The agenda of the meeting was to receive updates from the various sub-committees.
The members were advised to look into the Critical Infrastructure Bill and the Disaster Risk Management Bill to familiarize themselves with matters related to the sector. The Chair also informed the sector board that the National Police Service was willing to engage with KEPSA and that they should take this up.
KEPSA Director, Ms. Lucy Karume, who was in attendance, urged members to ensure the Security sector board engagements are in line with the Big 4 Agenda. This is important because Security is an enabler to the Big 4 Agenda and this will help set an agenda drive for the nation, for instance, job creation.
Ms Karume added that members should strive to attend and be involved in all the other sector boards and not tie themselves to one.
She concluded by thanking members who attended the Parliamentary committee meeting held last month and commended the nature of how the meeting was handled and the good presentation made to the committee.
