KEPSA PARTICIPATES IN THE LAUNCH OF KENYA’S ACCELERATED COVID-19 VACCINATION CAMPAIGN

On 29th September 2021, KEPSA Chair Ms. Flora Mutahi participated in the National Launch of Kenya’s Accelerated Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign by the Ministry of Health. The campaign, which is dubbed, Kuwa Shujaa, Pata Chanjo, Tufungue Nchi, is geared towards ensuring the country achieves a target of 10 million vaccinations by Christmas.

The launch was officiated by the Cabinet Secretary for Health Mutahi Kagwe and graced by Kiambu Governor H.E James Nyoro, Ms. Maniza Zamanand – UNICEF Representative in Kenya, Mr. William Asiko – Managing Director, Rockefeller Foundation, Africa Regional Office among other partners.

The campaign targets to have 10 million vaccinations in the next three months, with a mid-term target of 5.8 million vaccinations by Mashujaa Day celebrations on 20th October 2021.

As of 28th September 2021, a total of 3,712,030 vaccines had so far been administered across the country. Of these, total first doses were 2,813,477 while second doses were 898,553. The uptake of the second dose among those who received their first dose was at 31.9% while the proportion of adults fully vaccinated was 3.3%.
