KEPSA CEO, Ms. Carole Kariuki, met with the Director of Business Development of the Konza Technopolis Development Authority, Mr. David Mugambi, who was accompanied by Ms. Agatha Kakui and Ms. Feliciah Mukuhi both from the Investor Facilitation Unit of the Authority on 10th July 2018 at KEPSA Offices.
This meeting was held so that the Konza team could update Ms. Kariuki on the status of Konza Technopolis and apprise her on the upcoming activities for the Authority.
The first phase of the implementation status is as below:
Main Street and Phase 1A Access Road opened up to gravel standards.
2. Konza Complex (KoTDA main office)
Building completion Expected by November 2018.
132KV power station completed.
Will provide 50MW power supply.
1200 cubic meters for construction from equipped site boreholes.
2000M3 for Phase 1 from Nolturesh pipeline.
Thwake Dam for future Phases 2-4.
National Optic Fibre Backbone Infrastructure connection (NOFBI) link by MoICT through ICTA.
Konza National Data Centre and smart city facilities.
6. Phase 1 Infrastructure Development (EPCF Contract)
Commercial and Financing Contracts Executed.
Contractor mobilizing to the site.
7. Kenya Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
Funding from Korean Government secured.
Expression Interest for consulting services concluded.
RFP for design and construction supervision underway.
To this end, the Authority will host two events on 14th July,2019 at Machakos Golf Club to provide an update on the progress of Konza including investment and partnership opportunities. On 20th July, 2018, they will host a breakfast at the Konza Site followed by the official launch of KAIST and EPCF projects by the President of the Republic of Kenya.
