On 3rd April 2020, KEPSA, in partnership with TradeMark East Africa (TMEA), and the East African Business Council (EABC) delivered (18) thermometer guns to the Ministry of East African Community and Regional Development.

These thermometer guns will be used by government officials at the checkpoints to measure the body temperatures of truck drivers and other cargo transporters, to ensure that their temperatures are within acceptable limits, further easing movement of cargo and reducing time at these checkpoints. The initiative’s main focus was on the northern corridor (Mombasa – Busia) and the Nairobi – Namanga route.

This is part of the private sector efforts to improve the quality of transport and Logistics in Kenya, which will further improve the trade regulatory environment and eventually reduce barriers to trade in Kenya and the East African Community region.
