KEPSA participates in the 5th Choiseul Africa Summit
KEPSA CEO, Ms. Carole Kariuki, attended the 5th Choiseul Africa Summit, which took place in Algiers from 14th-15th May, 2017.
This event is a unique opportunity to share with peers, to meet with the highest political and economic leaders of the host country, as well as to identify business opportunities with local, African and European entrepreneurs, executives and CEOs.
During the opening of the two-day event, the participants were urged to comment on win-win collaborations which are important in this century for all Africans.
In her speech as a guest speaker, Ms. Kariuki, stated, “The African economy is unique in that, much as we are termed as emerging, developing and low income, the full potential of our largely unexploited resources and opportunities is so enormous, if fully exploited it would make the continent the new World’s Super Power.” She went on to emphasize on the important role the private sector plays in every country’s economy and that the growth of the continent depends on the growth of the private sector.
McKinsey Global Institute has referred to African countries as “Lions on the Move” after analyzing its growth prospects.
In the past 5 years, the continent has experienced an economic expansion averaging 3.3 percent a year between 2010 and 2015, with regions like the EAC recording above 5% growth rates.
