Mr. Nick Nesbitt (KEPSA Chair) received Ms. Karen Bartleson (IEEE President and CEO) and her delegation at KEPSA on Wednesday 17th May 2017. IEEE is the world’s leading professional organization of engineers and technologists advancing technology for humanity. With more than 423,000 members in over 160 countries, they define technology’s state of the art: develop and establish industry standards; educate, collaborate, and innovate; and leverage the power of technology to advance the human condition throughout the world regardless of nationality, religion, or culture.

Some of the issues discussed included:

  • Industry trends and how IEEE can help address challenges and opportunities.
  • The unmet knowledge/technological needs within Kenya and global market(s) and how IEEE can better engage with KEPSA to address those needs.
  • What existing/new products and services would deliver more value to KEPSA members.
  • How Kenya’s mid-career engineering professionals stay current with evolving technology.
  • How IEEE can support the training and educational needs of technical professionals through the arc of their careers.
  • What role IEEE can play with respect to entrepreneurship and start-ups within Kenya.

The courtesy call was concluded with an agreement to explore joint partnerships between the two organizations.
